The information applies to:
- LuxRiot up to 1.2.x and more recent
Symptoms
Starting January, 28 AVG anti-virus installations that updated their databases online with new signatures or fresh installations might start FALSELY report LuxRiot DVR’s server side running executable DVRServer.exe as a ‘Downloader.Swizzor’ virus due to a problem/collision/confusion in anti-virus database.
Resolution
Grisoft, developer of AVG anti-virus, has confirmed that detection was false and updated AVG virus definitions. Thus an update of AVG database should solve the problem. Before this or if an update is impossible such a false detection may be disabled using AVG anti-virus settings.
Please note that anti-virus software may have significant impact on DVR performance and consider disabling anti-virus on a highly loaded DVR system (you might wish to at least compare the DVR performance with and without anti-virus).
The information applies to:
- LuxRiot 1.6.x up to 1.6.6
Symptoms
LuxRiot DVR Server configured with cameras set up for recording might make an excessive load on operating system, which may depending on configuration result in degraded performance, gaps in video archive, watchdog restarts, errors 0×80070021 ‘The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.’ logged into system event log.
Description
The problem is more likely to happen with two or more disks selected for recording and with high disk quotas (close to 100%). Please note that to avoid data fragmentation issues in long run it is recommended to use disk quotas not higher than 85-90%.
The update fixes the problem and improves stability of server part of LuxRiot DVR.
Resolution
An update of one of the LuxRiot modules fixes the problem.
- Download archive DVRServerTools-1.6.7.4454.zip
- Stop all LuxRiot applications
- Open LuxRiot installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder
- Optional, but recommended: Backup file DVRServerTools.dll by renaming to e.g. DVRServerTools.01.dll
- Extract new DVRServerTools.dll from downloaded archive in place of the renamed file
- Start LuxRiot applications
The information applies to:
- LuxRiot 1.6.x up to 1.6.6
Symptoms
Arecont network cameras configured with LuxRiot DVR might unexpectedly stop, leave gaps in video archive or otherwise fail with error 0×81060016.
Description
The problem is more likely to happen on a system with two or more client applications running simultaneously.
Resolution
An update of one of the LuxRiot modules fixes the problem.
- Download archive DVRServerNetworkCamerasArecont-1.6.7.5774.zip
- Stop all LuxRiot applications
- Open LuxRiot installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder
- Optional, but recommended: Backup file DVRServerNetworkCamerasArecont.dll by renaming to e.g. DVRServerNetworkCamerasArecont.01.dll
- Extract new DVRServerNetworkCamerasArecont.dll from downloaded archive in place of the renamed file
- Start LuxRiot applications
The information applies to:
- LuxRiot 1.6.x up to 1.6.6
Symptoms
LuxRiot DVR running on a system with Comart XeCap series video capture board might freeze or otherwise perform in an unstable fashion.
Description
The problem more often comes up on a system with 16 and more capture channels running and especially on a system with one or more channels periodically becoming unavailable (due to, for instance, power outage on camera or signal loss).
LuxRiot DVR Server Watchdog in most cases handles the problem in server, however operating system might lock in board driver and stop DVR operation.
The fix works around the problem and improves stability of the server part of LuxRiot DVR.
Resolution
An update of one of the LuxRiot modules fixes the problem.
- Download self-extracting archive DVRServerXeCap-1.6.7.5515.exe
- Stop all LuxRiot applications
- Open LuxRiot installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder
- Optional, but recommended: Backup file DVRServerXeCap.dll by renaming to e.g. DVRServerXeCap.01.dll
- Start downloaded file to extract new DVRServerXeCap.dll in place of the renamed file
- Start LuxRiot applications

Symptoms
You cannot view live video from cameras, but you can record it. Also you can see and record video from another machine (with different hardware configuration) without “Black screen” problem.
To troubleshoot this issue you should select GDI renderer in client application settings (menu Tools, Options, Screen tab) and check if issue is gone.
Please remember that you should restart client application every time when you change video renderer settings in order to apply changes. Also remember that GDI mode is primarily for compatibility/reference purposes only, this mode turn off any hardware acceleration for video rendering, what results in significant performance degradation.

Resolution
This problem usually appears, when video adapter drivers aren’t fully compatible with the DirectX (actually with Direct Show). To resolve the problem you should try to install latest available drivers for the video adapter, and/or choose alternative renderer version (another DirectX version or GDI) to be used by LuxRiot for video rendering.
