Vivotek 6000 and 7000 cameras and LuxRiot 1.6.1

Filed under: Support — roman @ 1:03 pm

There might be a confusion with Vivotek 6000 and 7000 series cameras after LuxRiot upgrade to version 1.6.1. This LuxRiot update improves compatibility and performance for these devices, however if they were configured improperly before the update, they might stop working.

From a customer:

… I have lost all my IP camera connections after installing ver. 1.6.1.0 over ver. 1.2.22.0. I have Vivotek PZ6122, PT7135. I have checked my settings and they are all in order. What’s happening? I tried connecting via HTTP link under camera setting and it works.

There has been no M-JPEG streaming for Vivotek 6000 series models before the update and the cameras could work (slowly) being configured as M-JPEG on LuxRiot side and as MPEG-4 on camera side. After upgrade, LuxRiot would stop showing video and in order to fix the problem it is required to either switch LuxRiot to JPEG mode (slow mode, similar to the one before LuxRiot update) or switch camera to M-JPEG mode using web interface (new fast video streaming mode).

LuxRiot had no options to configure Vivotek 7000 series cameras prior to the update, so they might be configured as a different model. These settings need to be re-checked in order to get the camera working. Note that models IP7138 and IP7139 support fast M-JPEG streaming and LuxRiot supports pan and tilt functions with PT7135 and PT7137 models.

Windows Vista compatibility issues

Filed under: Support — roman @ 11:02 am

There are a few known compatibility issues with LuxRiot and Windows Vista, we are currently preparing an update which is going to be available with next LuxRiot release.

From a customer:

I am burning in a new NVR. This NVR client will not show live video. The live viewer pane continues to show “Waiting for video stream data”. What is peculiar is that i can watch near live video in the archive viewer. I can also see live video in the client from another NVR. I just cannot view live video from the DVR service running on this same machine as the client.

A temporary solution for the problem is to re-add the LuxRiot DVR Server using it’s host name (neither localhost, nor 127.0.0.1) so that the client connects as if to remote server. There will be worse performance but live video problem is to be fixed.
