PROB: NOD32 antivirus creates large temporary files when running along with LuxRiot DVR Server

Filed under: Bugs, How To — roman @ 4:52 pm

The information applies to:

  • LuxRiot 1.1.x

Symptoms

When LuxRiot DVR Server is set up to record data and there is a NOD32 antivirus product from ESET installed and running, there may be a situation when the antivirus is creating large temporary files, e.g. IH*.tmp, most likely in system temporary directory.

Resolution

The problem is caused by the antivirus analysis of the intensive disk operations. Configure antivirus to exclude drives used for recording from monitoring.

AVI export wizard survives through reconnection to server

Filed under: Change Log — roman @ 10:06 am

AVI export wizard is capable of resuming export process in case connection to remote server is lost and restored. Once remote server is no more available, a notification is displayed along with an option to reconnect and resume the process.

If the connection is set up to be automatically restored, export will be resumed automatically on reconnection to server.
The feature will be available with LuxRiot 1.1.17.

HOWTO: Improve performance when receiving large images (typically 2 megapixels and larger) from network cameras

Filed under: How To, Network Cameras — roman @ 2:39 pm

The information applies to:

  • LuxRiot 1.1.12 and more recent

Summary

Large images from network cameras may be downsampled (reduced in size) before showing on the screen to improve system performance with no or minor impact on image quality.

Description

Network camera sometimes deliver large images (2 megapixels and greater, for example coming from Arecont Vision cameras) which are shown on the screen essentially reduced in size, for instance, 2048 x 1536 image (3 megapixels) displayed on 1280 x 1024 display in layout with 4 screens is reduced almost 4 times vertically and horizontally.

Depending on video adapter and its settings, this may create unnecessary load on system which can be reduced (in some cases significantly reduced) by pre-processing images received from camera.

Instructions

Change a setting “Downsample large images” in client application menu Tools, Options as shown below:

Settings “Enabled, Favor Quality” and “Enabled, Favor Speed” enable the feature. Note that the change has effect with reactivating broadcast from camera. Reconnect to server or restart application to make sure the change has effect.

HowTo: Change number of scanners running concurrently for detecting network cameras

Filed under: How To, Network Cameras — alex @ 3:34 pm

Number of scanners (threads) running concurrently for detecting network cameras (Find Network Cameras wizard) can be changed by editing the registry. If your network is overloaded then it is recommended to decrease the default number of scanners in order not to miss some cameras. Increasing this number will increase the speed of the network detector, but decrease the probability of camera to be found.

Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\A&H\LuxRiot\Server\
Value Name: Network Cameras Scanner Threads
Value Type: DWORD
Value: number of scanners to be used (default 12, maximum 32)

Night mode separate resolution for ArecontVision AV3130 network camera

Filed under: Change Log, Network Cameras — alex @ 3:08 pm

ArecontVision camera automatically decreases resolution in Night (low-light) mode. But sometimes it is convenient to decrease resolution more for better network bandwidth and archive usage. This feature is available in LuxRiot 1.1.16 for dual-lens AV3130 camera only.
