FIX: Changing layout may result in freeze of live video

The information applies to:

  • LuxRiot 1.7.1

Symptoms

When screen layout is changed, and also possibly caused by other events, one or more live video streams might get frozen without further image updates. In the same time, a video footer is updated with new frame times, motion detection status and other supplementary information.

A minimization of the client application window (which internally pauses broadcasts, unless reconfigued by user) is typically resolving the freeze. The freeze also does not happen if user chooses GDI based video renderer under menu Tools, Options.

The problem is specific to particular hardware and/or Windows updates (detailed source of the problem is being investigated, the problem is believed to be specific to ATI video hardware and specific driver version).

Resolution

An update of one of the LuxRiot modules works the problem around.

It is strongly recommended to upgrade to latest LuxRiot 1.7.1 before applying the fix if an older version of LuxRiot is installed.

  1. Download the archive DVRClientTools-1.7.2.22618.zip
  2. Stop all LuxRiot applications
  3. Open LuxRiot instllation directory, typically “C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder”
  4. Backup file DVRClientTools.dll by renaming to e.g. DVRClientTools.01.dll
  5. Extract new file DVRClientTools.dll from downloaded archive in place of the renamed file
  6. Start LuxRiot applications

The fix will also be included into next release of LuxRiot.

Note that the solution is only applicable to LuxRiot version 1.7.1, and is not compatible with earlier releases.
