BUG: LuxRiot -t (Extended debug tracing) installations are not DEP friendly
The information applies to:
- LuxRiot 1.1.x
Symptoms
Extended debug tracing installations of LuxRiot (i.e. the ones with -t suffix in file name) contain executables that may crash in case CPU supports Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature (Execute Disable Bit). The applications will silently stop, typically without error message. An information entry is written to system event log.
Resolution
A temporary workaround for the problem is to set up LuxRiot application as DEP exceptions as descibed below.
An administrative permissions are required to modify configuration. Right click My Computer icon on the desktop and choose Properties item. Press Settings button in Performance box on Advanced page:
If acceptable, set Windows to use DEP feature for only essential Windows programs. In this case the alteration is complete. Otherwise add LuxRiot applications as DEP exceptions:

Add all executables (unins*.exe files are not necessary) from LuxRiot installation directory, typilcally C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder:

The appliacations will be listed as exclusions as shown below:

Press OK button to apply changes. Windows may require a reboot for the changes to have effect.
