BUG: LuxRiot DVR Client would not open shortcut with saved configuration

Filed under: Bugs, Fixes — roman @ 12:12 pm

The information applies to:

  • LuxRiot up to 1.6.2

Symptoms

When Luxriot DVR Client saved configuration file (.lxd) is opened (for instance, double clicked from desktop or shell explorer), the application starts with clean configuration and offers adding new server by popping up Add Server Wizard.

Description

The configuration file is safe and not damaged but the application is unable to open it as a shortcut (specified in the command line).

Resolution

An update of one of the LuxRiot modules fixes the problem.

  1. Download the archive DVRClient-1.6.2.764.zip
  2. Stop all LuxRiot applications
  3. Open LuxRiot instllation directory, typically C:\Program Files\LuxRiot Digital Video Recorder
  4. Backup file DVRClient.exe by renaming to e.g. DVRClient.01.exe
  5. Extract new DVRClient.exe from downloaded archive in place of the renamed file
  6. Start LuxRiot applications

The fix will also be included into next release of LuxRiot.

The following workarounds are also available for the problem.

In order to workaround the problem, please start LuxRiot DVR Client application directly (using desktop shortcut “LuxRiot DVR Client” (not Local DVR Connection or other configuration file!), quick launch panel shortcut or via Start Menu). The application will open last known configuration without the problem.

If the application is started using configuration shortcut with the symptoms mentioned above, it is also possible to close the wizard and re-open the configuration file from menu File. The configuration will be loaded and the settings will not be lost.

Most recent application shortcuts might also be used to workaround the issue.

Also note that first start might also show server addition wizard and configuration has to be ONCE loaded using File, Open menu.
