The information applies to:
- LuxRiot 1.1.x, 1.2.x
Summary
The article provides instructions on configuration LuxRiot DVR software for LuxRiot DVR Web Client access and provides troubleshooting steps.
Instructions
To make LuxRiot DVR Server available for web client connections make sure to enable LuxRiot DVR Server remote connections and (optionally) HTTP Server as shown below.
The third screen shot above shows HTTP Server properties. It may be enabled to have browser connections http://myserver.com/ (where myserver.com is network host name of the machine where LuxRiot DVR Server is installed) coming to LuxRiot DVR Server machine forwarded to web client home location http://luxriot.com/webclient. LuxRiot DVR Server will auto-detect internet address of the machine, however you strongly recommended to provide internet host name manually into the field “Server host name”.
LuxRiot uses TCP port 60554 (by default, may be overridden - see second screen shot above) for incoming connections and port 80 for browser connections (may be overridden - see third screen shot above). If LuxRiot DVR Server machine is behind router or firewall, make sure to configure proper access for incoming connections.
To troubleshoot web client connectivity please follow the steps mentioned below:
- Start LuxRiot DVR Server application (or service if configured so) and make sure the preparation instructions mentioned below are fulfilled.
- Start Internet Explorer application on the machine where LuxRiot DVR Server is running, it has to be connected to Internet, in particular, access to http://luxriot.com is required.
- Navigate browser to web client home http://luxriot.com/webclient. You should be able to see login prompt as shown below.
- Enter “localhost” as server name and provide login user name and password. After login the browser should install, if required, web client modules, connect to LuxRiot DVR Server and start showing video. If failed to receive video onto web client locally, the most likely problem is incorrect configuration of LuxRiot DVR Server (see above) or firewall (or antivirus) application preventing from connections to LuxRiot DVR Server.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4 from another computer on the same LAN with LuxRiot DVR Server. If unable to succeed with web client connection, the most likely problem is absence of internet connection on web client machine, strict local security settings that prevent installation of ActiveX controls, or firewall (or antivirus) applications blocking the connection attempts.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4 from other computers outside LAN. The mentioned above reasons to not connect apply and additionally if steps 2-5 are successful and step 6 is unsuccessful, the problem is likely to be caused by router (NAT) configuration which needs to have LuxRiot ports (60554 and possibly 80) opened and routed to LuxRiot DVR Server machine.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4, however instead of web client home location enter http://myserver.com address where myserver.com is a host name or IP address of LuxRiot DVR Server machine. The connection should be forwarded to http://luxriot.com/webclient. Should there a be a problem with the forwarding, the problem is likely to be caused my improper auto-detection of host name by LuxRiot and host name should be provided explicitly (see thrids screenshot above).
