Post-motion recording

Filed under: Change Log — roman @ 12:28 pm

Motion controlled recording is extended with the capability to keep recording after motion has been detected.

Once motion is detected, LuxRiot will keep storing frames into archive during specified period of time, typically a few seconds.

The feature is configurable via recording options:

The feature will be avialable with next LuxRiot release.

  2. A few more comments on new setting “Time interval to keep …, seconds”:

With a value of zero the behavior of the software is exactly as it was in versions of LuxRiot prior to 1.2.8, that is only video frames where excatly motion is detected are recorded.

This value may be set to certain number of seconds to define time interval after motion is detected when recording takes place regardless of ongoing motion analysis results. For example, if you specify a value of 1.5 seconds and you have motion detected at some point, LuxRiot will uncoonditionally record to archive all video frames within 1.5 seconds after motion.

This may be convenient for the case motion has been detected but the frame was unfortunate (blurry or face hidden etc), you are making sure LuxRiot will do its best recording next frames after motion event both whether it will find new motion in these next frames or not.

  4. It seems as the notion of security cameras and motion-detection-enabled-software should include the ability of email notification of a motion-event. Many competitors’s products and even the inexpensive USB webacm applications have included this feature. With the use of cellphones these days, and the ability to receive a text file or even a JPEG pic, an event can be recorded and the user notified of an event within moments. I hope this very useful feature can and will be soon incorporated in a future release of LuxRiot.
